Message and it wasn't intended as a slap in the face to those who have done it. The origin for that thought came from all of the V-8 conversions of 1st generation Z's and how simple (relatively speaking) it is to drop a 350 s/b into one of those cars and make it go fast.

I'm not trying to take anything away from those who have done V-8 conversions. However, I think there is a unique challenge (not unlike many of the race series) when you have to stay within a given set of constraints and then get the most out of it. Otherwise, you end up with nitro funny-cars that have the big blower intakes sticking through the hood and ultra fat rear tires to hold that 1200 hp. Sure it goes like stink in a straight line, but that's about all it's good for.

Thanks for seeing my comments in a reasonable light - I was expecting far worse :-)

of course those are canadian bannings and beatings, which after the conversion rate is really only a "hey! stop that!" Chris(NJ) 1/14/04
